Alison Carney is a Senior Lecturer working with the Physical Education team to deliver a variety of physical education courses. She graduated from Chelsea School of Human Movement, Brighton, with a BEd (Hons) in Physical Education with Special Educational Needs as a subsidiary subject. Alison started her teaching at a 11-16 comprehensive in Coulson, Surrey before moving to another secondary 11-18 school in Surrey as Head of Girls PE. After a move to the Kent coast, she was seconded one day a week to Canterbury Christ Church University and then subsequently employed full time from April 1999. After various changes in contract due to bringing up a family, Alison is now working full time and is Programme Director for the Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) 'top up' Physical Education and Physical Activity. Alison is proud to have represented her county, region and country at netball and has also coached at county level netball for U18's. Alison teaches on the BSc Physical Education & Sport and Exercise Science degree as well as on the Initial Teacher Education degree pathways for primary and secondary. Alison's interests include pedagogy and teaching styles and the importance of creativity to develop learning across a variety of domains.
