About this Speaker

I have been a senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church for 15 Years. Before that I was a headteacher of a primary school in Kent and a deputy-head for 6 years before I became a head. My current role at Christ Church, in addition to teaching across all the phases, involves coordinating the second year of the BA Primary Education course. I have also been year lead for the first year undergraduates and I also organise the international placements for the Alternative Learning Experience module. I have a real passion for languages and intercultural development and have conducted research into why languages are important and how learning a language can have a positive impact on other areas of learning. I really enjoy the pastoral dimension of teaching BA students and experience immense enjoyment and satisfaction when our students qualify as teachers as they make such a positive contribution to the future lives of their pupils.
