About this Speaker

I am an archaeologist who specialises in the Late Iron Age and Roman periods in northern Europe. My research has focused on the complex role of water in the development of urban centres in early Roman Britain. I also have broader interest in theoretical approaches to landscapes and the natural world, the role of archaeology in the 'Environmental Humanities', classical reception in the modern world, and the historiography of archaeology in Britain.

I have been lecturer on the archaeology course at Canterbury Christ Church University since 2015 and teach modules such as Civilisations of the Ancient World, Archaeology in Context, and Roman Lives.
